What the Design Studio does
The studio opens by asking what you want to design. Three of the choices work from a real photo and return a photorealistic result; the floor planner draws a plan from scratch. You can switch between them at any time.
- Interior: upload or take a photo of a room, choose a style, walls, flooring, furniture, lighting and colours, and the AI redesigns the real room while keeping its shape and camera angle.
- House exterior: change siding, brick, render, roof, windows, doors, porch and lighting on a photo of the house.
- Landscaping: redesign a yard or garden photo with lawn, planting, patio, deck, paths, pool, fence and lighting.
- 2D floor planner: draw walls, rooms, doors and windows with exact sizes, furnish the plan and view it in 3D.
- 3D room studio: style a sample room live in 3D, part by part, before you photograph your own.
Compare before and after with a slider, render another variation, refine a result, or download it.
Tips for a good photo
- Stand in a corner at chest height so two walls and the floor are visible. For a house, shoot from across the street. For a yard, shoot from the house looking out.
- Use daylight and switch the lights on. Avoid strong backlight from a window.
- Hold the camera level. Landscape orientation works best.
- Only upload pictures you have the right to use.
How to draw a floor plan
The planner works the way an architect draws: you draw the walls, and the rooms, their areas and the dimensions are worked out for you. It runs in your browser with nothing to install and no account.
- Draw walls: choose Walls, tap where a wall starts, then tap each corner. Walls snap to the grid, to right angles and to other walls. You can also type an exact length.
- Rooms appear automatically: when walls close a space it becomes a room with its floor area shown. Tap the room to name it and pick a floor finish.
- Doors and windows: tap a wall to place one. Choose single, double, sliding or garage doors, set the width and flip the swing.
- Dimensions: the overall size and each wall run are shown in feet and inches or in meters.
- Furnish and view in 3D: add beds, sofas, tables, kitchen and bathroom fittings, then switch to the 3D view.
- Keep it: export a PNG, print the plan, or save a project file to open again later.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Design Studio free?
Yes. It is free to use with no sign-up. AI renders are limited per visitor and per day so the service stays available to everyone.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. On a phone the options open as a panel you swipe up, and you can take the photo with the phone camera directly.
Is my photo stored?
No. Your photo is sent securely to the rendering service only to create your design and is not stored on this site. Results are kept in your browser until you close the page.
How accurate is the AI result?
It is a realistic visualisation, not a plan or a quote. Furniture sizes, colours and products in the picture may differ from what is available to buy.
Is my floor plan saved?
Your plan is saved in the browser you are using. To move it to another device, save a project file and open it there.
Can I use the plan for a building permit?
No. It is a planning sketch. Permit drawings must be prepared to your local building department’s requirements.
